Krista grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Calvin College, where she graduated cum laude with a BA in International Relations and a minor in Spanish. Krista then graduated cum laude with her Doctor of Laws (JD) from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. While at UC, she served on the Law Review as an editor and a published author. For the last decade, Krista has been counseling and advocating for people across West Michigan.

Outside of work, Krista stays busy wrangling her two small children, coaching her daughter's soccer team, and occasionally training for half marathons. She also serves in her church in Wyoming, MI and sits on the board of her family's favorite Christian camp in Northern Michigan. She lives with her husband and children in Jenison.
